İscehisar is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Afyonkarahisar . The city is located about 20 kilometers northeast of the provincial capital Afyonkarahisar and is home to 51.5 percent (end of 2018) of the district's population .
The district created in 1987 is located in the north of the province . It borders on Bayat in the east, Çobanlar in the southeast , the central district in the southwest, İhsaniye in the west and Eskişehir province in the north . The European route 96 runs through the city and the district from Izmir to Sivrihisar . In the north of the district lies the 1765 meter high Ağın Dağı Mountain , a peak of the Şaphane Dağı Mountains . Marble is quarried south of the city .
In addition to the district town, there is Seydiler (2,142 inh. / 2 Mahalle), another municipality / small town ( Belediye ). The district also includes eleven villages ( Köy ) with an average of 889 inhabitants. Three of the villages have more than a thousand inhabitants: Karaağaç (2,312), Çalışlar (1,771) and Alanyurt (1,127 pop .).
