Bolvadin is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Afyonkarahisar . The city is located about 45 kilometers east of the provincial capital Afyonkarahisar . Bolvadin is home to around 70 percent of the district's population.
The district is in the east of the province . It borders Çobanlar in the west, Bayat in the north-west, Emirdağ in the north, Sultandağı in the southeast and Çay in the south . The city is on the D675 road that connects Çay in the south with the E-90 in the north to Eskişehir . In the south of the district lies the Eber Gölü lake , into which the Akarçay River flows from Afyonkarahisar in the west . In the northwest is the small lake Özburun Göleti . In the north of the district lies part of the Emir Dağı Mountains .
In addition to the district town, the district consists of two further municipalities / small towns ( Belediye ): Dişli (2,955 inhabitants in 10 Mahallesi ) and Özburun (2,060 - 5). There are also 14 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 571 inhabitants. Three of them have more than a thousand inhabitants: Kemerkaya (1,837), Büyükkarabağ (1,135) and Kurucaova (1,119 pop .)
