Başmakçı is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Afyonkarahisar . The city is located about 110 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Afyonkarahisar . It houses about 53 percent of the district's population.

The district is located in the southwest of the province. It borders on Dazkırı to the west, Evciler and Dinar to the north, and the Isparta , Burdur and Denizli provinces to the south . To the west of the district town is part of Lake Acıgöl , and in the southeast of the district is an extension of the Söğüt Dağı Mountains, which are up to 1,831  m high . The district consists of the district town and 14 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 335 inhabitants. The largest village is Çığrı with 633 inhabitants .
