Hsiang Chun-hsien (born September 4, 1993 in Liugui ) is a Taiwanese high jumper .
Athletic career
Hsiang Chun-hsien gained his first international experience in 2009 when he finished fourth at the Asian Youth Games in Singapore with a skipped 2.00 m. The following year he won at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi with a height of 2.19 m, the bronze medal and thus qualified for the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he was eliminated without a valid height in the qualification. He also took part in the first-ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where he came in sixth with 2.11 m. He then retired at the Asian Games in Guangzhou with 2.05 m in qualification. In 2011 he finished seventh at the Asian Championships in Kobe with 2.18 m and in 2012 he won the bronze medal again at the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo with 2.16 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with 2.14 m.
In 2014 he reached ninth place at the Asian Indoor Championships in Hangzhou with a height of 2.10 m and then took part again in the Asian Games in Incheon , but could not cross any height there. The following year he won the silver medal behind the Japanese Takashi Etō at the Asian Championships in Wuhan with a skipped 2.24 m and then secured the bronze medal behind the Russian Daniil Zyplakow and at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju with a new national record of 2.28 m Matúš Bubeník from Slovenia. He also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he did not reach the final with 2.22 m . In 2016 he took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the first time, but retired there with 2.17 m in qualification . In 2017 he finished sixth at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 2.20 m and then won the bronze medal behind the German Falk Wendrich and Maro Fassinotti from Italy at the World Student Games in Taipei with 2.26 m .
In 2018 he reached the final of his third Asian Games in Jakarta , but failed to make a valid attempt there. The following year he reached twelfth place at the Asian Championships in Doha with a skipped 2.15 m.
