Hugh S. Jenkins

Hugh S. Jenkins (born March 9, 1903 in New Cumberland , West Virginia , † June 18, 1976 in Columbus , Ohio ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Republican Party ). He was Attorney General of Ohio from 1945 to 1949 .

Life

Hugh S. Jenkins, son of Vanessa Miskelly and John T. Jenkins, was born in Hancock County in 1903 . Nothing is known about his youth. At one point he studied law and began practicing as a lawyer after receiving his license. Jenkins was based in Mahoning County, Ohio. He was married to Wilma L. Lindamood (1906-1986), daughter of Effie Cline and Clarence B. Lindamood. Prior to his election as Attorney General, he chaired the Board of Tax Appeals and served as an administrator on the Ohio State Bureau of Unemployment Compensation . Jenkins was elected Attorney General in 1944 and 1946, but lost his re-election in 1948. He died on June 18, 1976 in Columbus and was then buried in Union Cemetery .
