Nancy H. Rogers

Nancy Hardin Rogers (born September 18, 1948 in Lansing , Michigan ) is an American lawyer and politician of the Democratic Party . She was Acting Attorney General of Ohio from 2008 to 2009 . She also teaches and writes in the field of dispute resolution. In this context, she wrote several books and articles on professional journals.

Career

Nancy Hardin Rogers, daughter of Martha Wood and Clifford Morris Hardin, was born in Lansing about three years after the end of World War II . It is not known about her teenage years. She attended the University of Kansas at Lawrence , where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1969 . 1972 followed a Juris Doctor at Yale University . She was admitted to the bar in 1972 in Ohio, in 1973 at the 6th District Court of the United States Court of Appeals , in 1974 at the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and in 1975 in Washington, DC and at the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio . Between 1972 and 1974 she worked as a trainee lawyer with US District Judge Thomas D. Lambros in Cleveland and between 1974 and 1975 as a personnel attorney for the Cleveland Legal Aid Society. She then was visiting professor at the College of Law at Ohio State University from 1975 to 1976 . Rogers was visiting professor from 1976 to 1978 and from 1983 to 1989, from 1981 to 1983 as assistant professor and from 1989 to 1992 as a private lecturer at Ohio State University. From 1992 to 1997, she was employed as a professor and assistant dean of academic affairs at Ohio State University. She then worked as the Joseph S. Platt-Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur Professor of Law from 1995 to 2001 . During that time, she also served as the Assistant Provost for Academic Affairs at Ohio State University from 1999 to 2001. She was also visiting law professor at Harvard Law School in 2000 . Between 2001 and 2008 she then acted as dean at Moritz College of Law , where she had been in charge of out-of-court dispute resolution since 2001. Rogers chaired the Association of American Law Schools in 2007 and served on its executive committee for five years . She served on the Board of Directors of Legal Services Corporation for nine years . A presidential appointment and confirmation by the US Senate is required for this position . Rogers was one of five Ohio commissioners to attend the National Conference of Commissioners of Uniform State Laws . The term of office is seven years and requires appointment by the governor . She served as a reporter on the Conference's Uniform Mediation Act. She also chaired the Judicial Advisory Committee, which examined candidates for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio for US Senators Sherrod Brown and George Voinovich . Rogers was the Acting Attorney General of Ohio from 2008 to 2009. She served on the Advisory Board of the World Arbitration and Mediation Report (WAMR) from 1991 to 2002 and worked for Dispute Resolution Magazine from 1994 to 2002 .
