Hugo August Ferdinand Laurin (born February 15, 1844 in Stettin , † January 11, 1921 in Berlin-Lichterfelde ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the later Prussian Lieutenant General Albert Laurin (1816-1900) and his wife Marie Auguste Johanna, née Rumpe (1824-1916).

Military career

Laurin attended the cadet schools in Kulm and Berlin . On April 25, 1861 he was transferred as a second lieutenant to the 6th Pomeranian Infantry Regiment No. 49 of the Prussian Army . As an adjutant of the 1st battalion, Laurin took part in the battle of Königgrätz during the war against Austria in 1866 and received the Order of the Crown, IV class with swords. On June 1, 1868 he was promoted to regimental adjutant and was promoted to prime lieutenant on October 14, 1869 . As such, Laurin was initially leader of a company with which he fought in the battle of Gravelotte when mobilizing on the occasion of the war against France . During the siege of Metz on October 16, 1870, he was appointed adjutant of the 6th Infantry Brigade . In this capacity Laurin took part in the siege of Paris and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class.

After the peace agreement, he was transferred to the 3rd Lower Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 50 on February 29, 1872, leaving his position as adjutant . On June 11, 1872 Laurin returned to the service and was promoted to captain on June 11, 1872 as company commander. In January 1885 he rose to major , was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in Rawitsch on March 8, 1887 , and was promoted to lieutenant colonel on September 20, 1890 . Shortly thereafter, he was appointed as a regular staff officer. With his promotion to colonel , Laurin was transferred to Zabern on May 20, 1893 and appointed commander of the 99th Infantry Regiment . In this capacity he received the Order of the Crown, 2nd class with swords on the ring, on January 17, 1897 on the occasion of the festival of the Order. As major general , Laurin was from March 22, 1897 in command of the 75th Infantry Brigade in Allenstein . His achievements in troop leadership were honored on January 15, 1899 by being awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class, with oak leaves. Although suitable for division commander, Laurin was for health reasons on 18 April 1900 under presentation of the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory board for disposition made.

Laurin married Gertrud Baarth on November 11, 1897 in Berlin. The marriage remained childless.
