The Huntsville Airport ( Huntsville International Airport / Carl T. Jones Field ) is an international civilian airport near Huntsville . It was opened in October 1967 as Huntsville Jetport and is located in Madison County of the state of Alabama .

There is a passenger terminal and two runways . The rare meteorological radar system Armor is operational for the airport . There is 24/7 operation in the freight area.

Airlines and Destinations

The airport serves as a hub for the airline Atlas Air . Scheduled flights for passengers are offered by American Airlines , Delta Air Lines , Frontier Airlines , Silver Airways and United Airlines . However, American Airlines and United Airlines flights are operated by American Eagle and United Express, respectively. Only Delta Air Lines offers its own flights in parallel to its subsidiary Delta Connection . In addition, Atlas Air, Cargolux , FedEx , Panalpina and UPS offer cargo flights. However, the Panalpina flights are operated under wet lease from Atlas Air.

The flight schedule consists almost exclusively of feeder flights to the larger hubs of the legacy carriers . The most important is the connection to Atlanta , on this around 35% of the passengers of the Huntsville International Airport are carried. The flights to Atlanta are operated exclusively by Delta Air Lines.
