Iñaki Salegui (born October 10, 1966 ) is a former Spanish ice hockey player who played most of his career with CG Puigcerdà in the Spanish Super League and was three times Spanish cup winners with the club . He is the top scorer of the Spanish national team .

Career

Iñaki Salegui began his career as a hockey player with CG Puigcerdà , for whom he made his debut in the Spanish Super League in the 1988/89 season . With the Northern Catalans he won the Copa del Rey , the Spanish cup competition , in 1992 . 1998 moved to the Clermont-Auvergne Hockey Club . In 1999 he won the French Division 1 with the team from the historic capital of the Arverni . He then returned to Puigcerdà and won the Spanish Cup again with the club in 2004 and 2005. Then played for the league competitor CH Val d'Aran Vielha , who also came from the north of Catalonia . When he withdrew from the Superliga after internal quarrels in December 2007, Salegui ended his career for the time being. In the 2014/15 season he returned to the ice for a few games of his home club CG Puigcerdà.

International

Salegui made his debut for the Spanish national team at the D World Cup in 1989 . He then played at the C world championships in 1993 , 1998 and 2000 , the C2 world championships in 1994 and 1995 and the D world championships in 1996 , 1997 and 1999 . After switching to the current division system, he played at the World Championships in 2001 , 2002 , when he was the top scorer of the tournament, in 2003 , 2004 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 and 2008 in Division II. With 88 points, he is the top scorer of the Spanish national team.
