IC 1404 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E0 in the constellation of Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 246 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on August 27, 1892 .
