IC 1408 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Capricorn on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 242 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 2, 1891 .
