IC 1417 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Aquarius on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 246 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 7171 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 4, 1891 .
