Ina Meschik (born September 25, 1990 in Sankt Veit an der Glan ) is a former Austrian snowboarder . She started in the parallel giant slalom and in the parallel slalom for the SK TSA Landskron located in the municipality of Villach .
Career
Ina Meschik visited the Sport-BORG Spittal an der Drau .
In January 2006 she drove her first race in the European Cup in Radstadt , which she finished in 17th and 12th place in the parallel slalom. The following year she won the bronze medal in the giant slalom and the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2007 in Jaca . In the 2007/08 season she came in third place three times in the European Cup and twice.
World Cup debut 2008
In addition, she had two wins and at the end of the season she finished second in the parallel overall ranking. She made her debut in the Snowboard World Cup in January 2008 in Bad Gastein . She came in 19th place in the parallel slalom. In March 2008 she won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2008 in Chiesa in Valmalenco . After placing three and two in the European Cup in Abzakovo at the beginning of the 2008/09 season , she took 11 wins and a second place and thus won the parallel ranking. In March 2009 she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2009 in Nagano and achieved her first top ten placement in the World Cup with 4th place in La Molina . After two second places in the European Cup at the beginning of the 2009/10 season, she came on the podium in the World Cup for the first time with third place in Telluride .
2010 Winter Olympics
At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she was sixth in the parallel giant slalom. In March 2010 she achieved another podium finish with third place in La Molina and reached 11th place in the Parallel World Cup at the end of the season. At the 2010 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Cardrona , she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom. Her best World Cup result in the 2010/11 season was seventh in the parallel slalom in Landgraaf . At the Snowboard World Championships 2011 in La Molina she finished 16th in the parallel giant slalom.
In the following season she came in the top ten four times in the World Cup and thus reached 13th place in the parallel World Cup. At the Snowboard World Championships 2013 in Stoneham , she achieved 14th place in the parallel giant slalom. Also in the season she became Austrian champion in parallel slalom. After finishing second in the European Cup at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, she achieved three top ten results in the World Cup and took third and first place in the parallel slalom in the European Cup in Lachtal .
2014 Winter Olympics
At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished fourth overall in the parallel giant slalom. In the race for the bronze medal she lost to the Russian Aljona Zavarsina . In the parallel slalom, she came eighth.
In March 2014 she became Austrian champion in parallel slalom and giant slalom and second in parallel giant slalom in the European Cup in Gerlitzen . She finished the season in sixth place in the parallel ranking of the European Cup and in tenth place in the parallel World Cup. She also finished seventh in the parallel giant slalom world cup. In the 2014/15 season she came in the top ten three times in the World Cup, including second place in the parallel giant slalom in Rogla , 12th place in the parallel slalom world cup and in the parallel world cup and tenth place in the parallel giant slalom world cup. In the European Cup, she finished once in second and once in first place and was eighth in the parallel ranking.
At the 2015 Snowboard World Championships in Lachtal, she achieved tenth place in the parallel slalom. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season she reached three third places in the European Cup. In the further course of the season she came in the top ten five times in the World Cup, including third place in the parallel giant slalom in Kayseri and second place in the parallel slalom in Winterberg . In March 2016 she won two European Cups and thus achieved third place in the parallel classification and first place in the parallel giant slalom classification. In the World Cup, she finished sixth in the parallel giant slalom world cup, fifth in the parallel world cup and third in the parallel slalom world cup at the end of the season.
At the beginning of the 2016/17 season, she won her first World Cup victory in the parallel giant slalom in Carezza . In the further course of the season she reached five top ten placings, including third place in the parallel giant slalom in Rogla and thus finished tenth in the parallel slalom world cup, fifth in the parallel world cup and fourth in the parallel giant slalom world cup. At the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , she finished ninth in the parallel slalom and eighth in the parallel giant slalom.
Olympic Winter Games 2018
Meschik was nominated for the third time in 2018 for a starting place at the Winter Olympics in February in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang . In the parallel giant slalom, the 27-year-old made it to the quarter-finals on February 24 and finished eighth.
In October 2018, the 28-year-old declared her active career over after 13 years.
