Ina Meschik (born September 25, 1990 in Sankt Veit an der Glan ) is a former Austrian snowboarder . She started in the parallel giant slalom and in the parallel slalom for the SK TSA Landskron located in the municipality of Villach .

Career

Ina Meschik visited the Sport-BORG Spittal an der Drau .

In January 2006 she drove her first race in the European Cup in Radstadt , which she finished in 17th and 12th place in the parallel slalom. The following year she won the bronze medal in the giant slalom and the gold medal in the parallel giant slalom at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2007 in Jaca . In the 2007/08 season she came in third place three times in the European Cup and twice.

World Cup debut 2008

In addition, she had two wins and at the end of the season she finished second in the parallel overall ranking. She made her debut in the Snowboard World Cup in January 2008 in Bad Gastein . She came in 19th place in the parallel slalom. In March 2008 she won the silver medal in the parallel giant slalom at the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2008 in Chiesa in Valmalenco . 2010 Winter Olympics

At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , she was sixth in the parallel giant slalom. In March 2010 she achieved another podium finish with third place in La Molina and reached 11th place in the Parallel World Cup at the end of the season. At the 2010 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Cardrona , she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom. Her best World Cup result in the 2010/11 season was seventh in the parallel slalom in Landgraaf . After finishing second in the European Cup at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, she achieved three top ten results in the World Cup and took third and first place in the parallel slalom in the European Cup in Lachtal .

2014 Winter Olympics

At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , she finished fourth overall in the parallel giant slalom. In the race for the bronze medal she lost to the Russian Aljona Zavarsina . In the parallel slalom, she came eighth.

In March 2014 she became Austrian champion in parallel slalom and giant slalom and second in parallel giant slalom in the European Cup in Gerlitzen . She finished the season in sixth place in the parallel ranking of the European Cup and in tenth place in the parallel World Cup. She also finished seventh in the parallel giant slalom world cup. In the 2014/15 season she came in the top ten three times in the World Cup, including second place in the parallel giant slalom in Rogla , 12th place in the parallel slalom world cup and in the parallel world cup and tenth place in the parallel giant slalom world cup. At the season highlight of the 2017 Snowboard World Championships in Sierra Nevada , she finished ninth in the parallel slalom and eighth in the parallel giant slalom.

Olympic Winter Games 2018

Meschik was nominated for the third time in 2018 for a starting place at the Winter Olympics in February in the South Korean city ​​of Pyeongchang . In the parallel giant slalom, the 27-year-old made it to the quarter-finals on February 24 and finished eighth.

In October 2018, the 28-year-old declared her active career over after 13 years.
