The international tournament was the re-edition of the previous year's tournament on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution . It was held in Moscow from December 1st to 4th, 1968 . In addition to two Soviet national selections , the national teams of Finland and Canada took part. It was not until the following year that the Soviet daily newspaper " Известия " (Ger. Izvestia , that is, news ) took over the sponsorship of this sporting event.
