The Izvestia Cup 1979 ( Russian Турнир на приз газеты Известия , German: tournament for the prize of the newspaper " Известия " , German Izvestia , i.e. news ) was the 13th staging of the international ice hockey tournament , which this year took place from the 16th to the on Dec. 21 took place the 1979th In addition to the Soviet Sbornaja , the national teams of Finland , Sweden and Czechoslovakia took part again. This year the Canadian national ice hockey team also took part in the tournament. Again the team from the USSR could win the tournament.
