The Izvestia Cup 1978 ( Russian Турнир на приз газеты Известия , German: tournament for the prize of the newspaper “ Известия ” , German Izvestia , i.e. news ) was the 12th edition of the international ice hockey tournament , which this year took place from the 16th to the on Dec. 22 took place the 1978th In addition to the Soviet Sbornaja , the national teams of Finland , Sweden and Czechoslovakia took part again. Also this year, a selection of Canadian players took part in the tournament under the name NHL Future Stars . The team from the USSR was able to win the tournament after the better goal difference against Czechoslovakia.
