The 1995 Karjala Christmas Cup was the first time this ice hockey tournament was held in Finland . It was the resumption of the idea of a Finnish tournament for national teams, which was first implemented in 1992 with the Sauna Cup . The national teams of Finland , Sweden , France and the Czech Republic competed . Since the Izvestia Cup was taking place in Moscow at the same time , the French national team was invited instead of Russia and the Czech Republic was only represented by the B national team. For the same reason, the tournament took place on different dates in the following years and was only called "Karjala Cup".

The Games took place in Helsinki from December 13-19, 1995 . The tournament winner was the Swedish national team with three wins from three games.
