Subsequent playoff

In January 1956, Pachman and Ilwizki played a playoff for a place in the candidates' tournament. Pachman won 3½: 2½. After five draws, the Czech won the sixth game. The result was ultimately inconsequential, as no substitute was needed in the candidates' tournament.
