Jérôme Samson (born September 4, 1987 in Greenfield Park , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL) .
Career
Jérôme Samson began his career as an ice hockey player in the Canadian junior league QMJHL , in which he was active from 2004 to 2007 for the Moncton Wildcats and Foreurs de Val-d'Or . In 2006 he took part with the Moncton Wildcats as host at the final tournament for the Memorial Cup and was awarded the George Parsons Trophy . On July 2, 2007, the winger received a free agent contract with the Carolina Hurricanes , for whose farm team Albany River Rats he played in the American Hockey League from 2007 to 2010 . In the 2009/10 season , the right-shooter also made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Carolina Hurricanes, where he prepared two goals in seven games.
In the 2010/11 season , Samson played mostly for Carolina's new AHL farm team Charlotte Checkers . In these he was able to convince with 54 scorer points, including 26 goals, in 53 games. For this reason, he was allowed to participate in the AHL All-Star Classic and was used much more often for the Hurricanes in the NHL. For Carolina he prepared two goals in 23 games.
In July 2013, the Canadian signed a one-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets , but in the 2013/14 season he was only used with the St. John's IceCaps farm team in the AHL. In the 2014/15 season he was signed by the Tampa Bay Lightning , but after 26 games in the jersey of the Lightning farm team , the Syracuse Crunch , he decided to move to Europe and joined the Swiss club EHC Biel from the National League A at.
From June 2015 Samson was under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). With the Munich team he became German champions in the 2015/16 season and then left the club in the direction of DEL competitor Schwenninger Wild Wings . There he did not receive a new contract after the 2016/2017 season . He then moved to the Austrian Ice Hockey League (EBEL) for the Vienna Capitals . In October 2017, he suffered a concussion and did not play any further games, so his contract was terminated a month later.
