Jörg Sieber (born July 13, 1961 in Ulm ) is a German rock singer , sound engineer and composer for rock music , film music and music for commercials . He is a founding member and singer of the rock band Dominoe .

Life

Sieber grew up in Bermaringen , a district of Blaustein in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg , as the son of a forest manager with two sisters and two brothers. He first attended the Schubart grammar school in Ulm and later the Protestant boarding school at Gaienhofen Castle on Lake Constance . As a child he received several years piano lessons and took off his thirteen -taught percussion and guitar at. Sieber first worked as a guitarist in the cover band Crossfire , then as a singer in the band Burning Flare . Due to a vocal cord disease Sieber had to give up his role as a singer and became the drummer of this band. He founded his first recording studio in his parents' house.

Sieber is married, has a grown son and lives in Munich.

Rock band Dominoe

In 1987, on the occasion of the death of his mother, Sieber wrote the song I don't know , which deals with the subject of resurrection , and presented it to a publisher in Switzerland. This referred Sieber to a musician in Grafing near Munich, Robert Papst , who was currently looking for a singer for his own band. Sieber and Popst then founded the rock band Dominoe and later released the song Siebers on their first joint album Keep in Touch .

With their joint debut single Here I Am , which appeared in autumn 1987 and followed the first joint song Family Mad , Pope and Sieber placed a top hit with Dominoe, which the French car manufacturer Renault used in a commercial . The song landed on January 11, 1988 at number 4 in the German singles charts and stayed there for 26 weeks. In the Swiss single charts, the song also came in at number 4 in March 1988 and stayed there for 14 weeks. The title became known far beyond Europe: Gresham Records released a single in South Africa in 1988 . TV appearances in Germany, for example at Formula One , and in France followed. The French chanson singer Sylvie Vartan sang a new version of the title for France. Sieber and Papst put their studios together in a joint studio in Grafing-Bahnhof on a farm.

The success with Here I Am made Dominoe known far beyond Germany overnight. This was followed by Europe-wide live appearances on TV and on stage. Udo Lindenberg later interpreted the title Touch from this album in a German version Wie'n Alter Freund . In 1987 Lindenberg sang the song in the Dominoe studio in Grafing.

As a follow-up single , RCA Records decided on the song Let's Talk about Life, with which Dominoe could not build on the first success and only reached middle chart positions. Pope left the band in 1989 as an active stage musician and from then on appeared as their producer. For him came the guitarist Markus Schiegl. During the studio recordings, Pope continued to work as a guitarist.

The second album The Key (1989/1990) was produced by Papst in collaboration with Harold Faltermeyer . The first single from it, Angel Don't Cry , was shown as a video clip on MTV , the second single was the ballad Keep the Fire Burnin .

It was not until 2002 that Sieber and Papst decided on a third album entitled No Silence ... No Lambs , which they recorded together with new musicians and the Swiss singer Jane Bogaert . Bogaert had already worked with Lionel Richie , Udo Lindenberg and Joe Lynn Turner , among others , and competed in the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland in 2000 in Stockholm .

The fourth dominoe album, The Story Is Far from Told , produced by Pope was released in 2008 and was accompanied by a number of television appearances. The fifth album Naked But Dressed , which was released in 2012, featured top-class guest musicians who were friends with Papst, including Jimi Jamison ( Survivor ) on the title Comin 'Home and Naked but Dressed Larry Hoppen from the American band Orleans , their best-known Piece Still the One is.

On the occasion of the Classic Rock Nights 2008 in the Capitol in Hanover , Robert Papst and Jörg Sieber had another live performance with Jimi Jamison and Joe Lynn Turner and on this occasion presented new songs like Irresistible and One More Sugar .

In November 2018 the sixth album The Lost Radio Show was released . It consists of recordings that Dominoe played for a UK radio show in 2008. Parts of these live recordings were lost at the time due to a hard drive crash, so that the planned radio broadcast could not be broadcast. The incomplete parts received have been archived. By chance, Robert Papst rediscovered these excerpts at the beginning of 2018. Most of the tracks recorded in 2008 were used for the album, only the parts that were really lost had to be re-recorded.

Jay Seever

From 1994 Jörg Sieber started a solo career as a singer under the pseudonym Jay Seever. It was again produced by Robert Papst. Sieber's album No More Money was published in his music publisher Comand Music . Sieber alias Jay Seever became known with the song That's the Way You're Looking For, produced for a Hanuta TV commercial . The cover of the single was shown on all Hanuta products. Other songs by Jay Seever were Heaven Is For Hereos and The Dominoe History .

Music for TV and advertising

In the years that followed the success with Dominoe, Sieber produced music for television productions and commercials in his own recording studio Gallery4 Music Production . Sieber's compositions were used in advertising film productions for the brands Pampers , Warsteiner , BMW , Audi and Porsche, among others . Sieber composed the club anthem Dolphines Paradise for the tour operator Aldiana . Sieber also produced a DVD series of travel videos.

cabaret

Between 1998 and 2013 Sieber performed together with the nurse Thomas Bloch as the cabaret duo Ewald and Manfred with the format Schwabenkanal . Appearances on TV and on stages like the Mäulesmühle followed. Sieber and Bloch were awarded the Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Prize for their program.

social commitment

Sieber conducts workshops for composition and song production at schools and in youth welfare institutions. Together with the social and media educator Andreas Harde and other musicians, Sieber is involved in the Music4Kids project , which aims to introduce children and young people to a sense of responsibility and show them how they can " gain self-confidence through the power of music". The project is funded by the Bavarian Culture Fund and the Munich Teachers' Association (MLLV). Andreas Harde occurred among others as of Michael Cretu produced artist under the pseudonym Angel X in appearance. As part of the School of POP , school anthems are composed, written, interpreted and produced together with the young people.
