Juerg Amann
Jürg Amann (born July 2, 1947 in Winterthur ; † May 5, 2013 in Zurich ) was a Swiss writer .
Life
Jürg Amann was the son of a printer and poet . He attended high school in Winterthur and, after graduating from high school, studied German and journalism at the University of Zurich and at the Free University of Berlin . In 1973 he did his doctorate with Emil Staiger in Zurich with a thesis on Franz Kafka , Das Symbol Kafka. A study of the artist . He then worked as a journalist in Berlin and from 1974 to 1976 in Zurich; During this time he was also a dramaturge at the Zurich Schauspielhaus . Since 1976 he has lived as a freelance writer in Zurich.
Jürg Amann was the author of prose works , plays , radio plays and children's books . In his stylistically strongly influenced by Franz Kafka and Robert Walser works he often portrayed failed characters and outsiders. Much of Amann's works have autobiographical traits; individual critics also speak of "self-reflection". In 2011, an adaptation of the autobiographical notes of the concentration camp commandant of Auschwitz Rudolf Höß was published .
Jürg Amann has been a member of the Association of Authors of Switzerland since 1979 and of the PEN Center of the Federal Republic of Germany since 1999 . He died on May 5, 2013 in Zurich after a long and serious illness.
