Jaílma Sales de Lima (born December 31, 1986 in Taperoá ) is a Brazilian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run . At the beginning of her career she was also active as a high jumper and heptathlete. Occasionally she also competes in the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Jailma de Lima gained her first experience in international championships at the Youth South American Championships 2000 in Bogotá , where she won the silver medal in the high jump with 1.74 m. Two years later she won the high jump and heptathlon championships in Asunción . In 2003 she took part in the Youth World Championships in Sherbrooke , Canada , where she finished eleventh in the high jump and just barely missed a medal in fourth in the heptathlon. In 2006 she won the gold medal in the heptathlon at the U23 South American Championships in Buenos Aires and took fifth place with the Brazilian 4-time 400 Mater relay. Two years later she won gold over 400 meters at the U23 South American Championships in Lima and with the Brazilian relay.

In 2009 she won the bronze medal over 400 meters and gold in both relay competitions at the South American Championships in Lima. In 2011 she won gold over the 400 meter hurdles and the 4 x 400 meter relay at the South American Championships in Buenos Aires . She then won bronze over 400 meters and gold with the 4-by-100-meter relay and the 4-by-400-meter relay at the World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro . At the World Championships in Daegu , she was eliminated from the hurdles in advance. At the Pan American Games in Guadalajara , Mexico , she won silver with the relay and finished fifth in the 400-meter hurdles. In 2012 she qualified again for the Olympic Games in London , where she was eliminated in the individual competition and with the relay in the first round.

In 2013 she won gold with both relays at the South American Championships in Cartagena . Two years later she just missed a medal at the South American Championships in Lima as fourth over the hurdles and won gold with the 4-ma-400-meter relay. In 2016 she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the second time and this time failed over 400 meters in the individual competition as well as with the relay in the preliminary run. In 2017 she won the B-final with the Brazilian team at the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas . At the South American Championships in Luque , she won again with the relay and was again fourth over the hurdles.

So far she has been Brazilian champion eight times.
