Jack Peter Green (born October 6, 1991 in Maidstone ) is a British hurdler who specializes in the 400 meter hurdles .

Career

Jack Green gained his first international experience at the Junior European Championships 2009 in Novi Sad , where he reached the semifinals over 400 meter hurdles, but did not take part there. In 2010 he finished fifth over the hurdles at the Junior World Championships in Moncton, Canada and won the bronze medal behind the United States and Nigeria with the British 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2011 he won the U23 European Championships in Ostrava in 49.13 s and thus qualified for the World Championships in Daegu , where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 49.62 s.

In 2012 he qualified for the Summer Olympics in London , where he had to end his race prematurely in the semifinals . He also finished with the British relay with 2: 59.53 minutes in the final in fourth place. In 2013 he again took part in the U23 European Championships in Tampere , but had to end his preliminary run there early. He then announced that he would take a break from top-class sport due to persistent depression, which lasted until 2015.

In 2015 he finished sixth at the World Relays in the Bahamas with the 4 x 400 meter relay and qualified over the hurdles for the World Championships in Beijing , in which he did not start. In 2016 he reached the final at the European Championships in Amsterdam , but could not finish his run there. In addition, he won the bronze medal behind Belgium and Poland with the British relay. He qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 49.54 s in the first semifinals .

In 2017 he took part in the World Championships in London, where he was eliminated in the semifinals with 49.43 s . He also won the bronze medal with the British relay and was used in the run-up. In 2018 he took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished fourth there in 49.18 s. In addition, he retired with the English relay in the first round.

In 2017 Green became the British champion in the 400 meter hurdles. He is a graduate of the University of Bath .
