history

Jackschönau Castle (1928)

Finds from the Bronze Age in the vicinity indicate an early settlement of the area.

The name of the place goes back to Count Jaxo or Jaxa, who acquired the village boundary around 1150. Count Jaxo was the son-in-law of Peter Wlast , the owner of the Zobtenberg . Jaxo's grandchildren donated the village in 1203 to the Trebnitz monastery, which was founded in 1202 . In the deed of gift, the name Silesia appears for the first time as villam in campo Zlesie Yaxonovo . From around 1250 after the destructive incursion of the Mongols in 1241, the German settlement of the place took place.

Around 1530 the place became Protestant under the owner Albert von Sauerma, but again Catholic in 1654 as part of the Counter Reformation . In 1743 the landlady Anna Katharina von Guthsmuths made it possible for the Protestants to build a Protestant prayer house in the northern neighboring town of Wiltschau .

There has been a manor in the village since ancient times , most recently from 1822 to 1945 owned by von Stegmann and Stein. Grain and, above all, sugar beets were grown on the high-quality black earth farmland , which were transported via Wiltschau and Gallowitz to the Tschauchelwitz sugar factory founded in 1871 using a field railway built in 1925 . A sugar factory founded by Wilhelm von Stegmann and Stein in 1848 had already existed in Jackschönau itself. On the southern outskirts there was a windmill , which was converted to electrical operation around 1930 after a storm damage.

In 1897 the road was extended from Breslau via Gallowitz ( customs station ), Wiltschau, Jackschönau to Prisselwitz . Early finds were made south of Jackschönau and archaeologically evaluated.

In 1925 the post bus route Breslau – Jackschönau was opened; later it was extended to Prisselwitz. In 1928 the place got its own post office (previously the post office was in Koberwitz ).

In the years 1929–1931 the tan was regulated, ie straightened and contained. This work was triggered by large floods caused by a summer flood in 1926.

In 1874 the communities and were Gutsbezirke Jack Schonau and nice Bankwitz (formerly Tschönbankwitz ) for District summarized Jack Schonau; the manor owner von Schönbankwitz became head of office, that von Jackschönau deputy. Schönbankwitz was also the closest train station to the railway line (Breslau–) Koberwitz – Heidersdorf, which opened in 1898 . In 1933 the municipalities of Buchwitz , Pasterwitz and Prisselwitz were added to the district.

During the National Socialist era , Jackschönau was renamed Swords in 1937 . In the 1939 census , the population was 552.

In February 1945 the population was evacuated to Seifersdorf in the district of Glatz . In mid-May, the survivors of the trek returned to the meanwhile devastated village in order to till the fields in time. From August 1945 the place was settled by Poles and the Germans were expelled . They left their homeland in several stages from July 1946 to September 1947 .
