Jane Levy (* 29. December 1989 in Los Angeles County , California as Jane Colburn Levy ) is an American actress , best known for her role as Tessa Altman in the TV series Suburgatory .

life and career

Jane Levy was born in December 1989 in Los Angeles County , a county in the US state of California , to the daughter of Mary Levy, an artist, and Lester Levy, a musician. She grew up in Marin County , Northern California , and attended high school there . During her school days, she was the captain of the women's soccer team and appeared in amateur plays by Annie and The Wizard of Oz . After graduating from high school, she attended Goucher College in Maryland for a semester before moving to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York . After two years in New York, she returned to Los Angeles back and got her first role in Shameless , the American remake of the eponymous British dramedy - television series . In the series broadcast by Showtime , she played the role of Mandy Milkovich in five episodes of the first season before she was replaced by Emma Greenwell for the second season . In spring 2011 it was for the lead role in the ABC - Comedy Series Suburgatory cast, where she served as Tessa Altman alongside Jeremy Sisto and Cheryl Hines is seen. Since that role, she has been compared to Emma Stone because of her red hair . Levy was named one of 2011's Outstanding Actresses by both TV Guide and TheInsider.com and was among the top eleven on AOL's list of the funniest women. For Halloween 2012, the comedy Fun Size was released , in which Levy played one of the leading roles alongside Victoria Justice and Chelsea Handler .

In February 2012, she replaced Lily Collins in the lead role as Mia in Evil Dead , a remake of the 1981 horror film Dance of the Devils , which premiered in March 2013 at the South by Southwest Festival.
