Jeff Finger (born December 18, 1979 in Houghton , Michigan ) is a former American ice hockey player who has played for the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League during his active career .

Career

The 1.85 m tall defender first played with the Green Bay Gamblers in the junior league United States Hockey League , during his college days he was on the team of St. Cloud State University , which competed in the Hockey Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . In the 1999 NHL Entry Draft , the left-handed shooter was finally selected ( drafted ) as 240th in the eighth round of the Colorado Avalanche .

First, the defender was used by the Avalanche in various farm teams in the ECHL and the American Hockey League , on February 20, 2007 he finally made his NHL debut against the Calgary Flames . Finger scored his first scorer point seven days later in the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets , when he acted as an assist provider for Paul Stastny . On March 1 of the same year, the American finally scored his first goal in the highest North American professional league in the game against the Chicago Blackhawks . In the summer of 2008, Finger signed a four-year, $ 14 million free agent contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs . Subsequently, Finger, who had only been part of the farm team for the Toronto Marlies in the last two seasons , ended his active career.
