Jethe , Jaty in Lower Sorbian , is a district of the municipality of Wiesengrund in the Brandenburg district of Spree-Neisse .

location

Jethe is located in Niederlausitz in the official settlement area of ​​the Sorbs / Wends . Towns nearby are the city forest belonging district United Jamno in the north, the city forest in the northeast, Simmersdorf the east, Jocksdorf the southeast, Gahry in the south, Gablenz in the southwest, Sergen in the west and Dubrau in the northwest.

Jethe was first mentioned in a document in 1455.

After the Congress of Vienna , Jethe, like all of Lower Lusatia, came to the Kingdom of Prussia . There Jethe was in the district of Noßdorf in the district of Sorau (Lausitz) . From 1946 to 1952 the community was in the Cottbus district . On July 25, 1952, Jethe was assigned to the newly formed Forst district in the Cottbus district and, after the reunification, was in the Forst district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Jethe came to the newly formed Spree-Neiße district and was merged on December 31, 2001 with the previously independent communities of Gahry , Gosda , Mattendorf and Trebendorf to form the community of Wiesengrund .

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined a population of 228 inhabitants for Jethe in the 1880s, of which 100 were Sorbs (44%) and 128 were Germans.
