The Jililí district is located in the Ayabaca Province in the Piura region in northwestern Peru . The district was established on September 8, 1964. It has an area of ​​97.2 km². At the 2017 census , there were 2686 inhabitants in the district. In 1993 the population was 3237, in 2007 2956. The administrative seat is the 1319  m high village Jililí with 229 inhabitants (as of 2017). Jililí is located 11 km northwest of the provincial capital Ayabaca .

Geographical location

The district of Jililí is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the north of the Ayabaca province. The Río Calvas , left source river of the Río Macará , runs as a border river along the Ecuadorian border in the north of the district in a westerly direction.

The Jililí district is bordered by the Suyo district to the west, Ecuador to the north, the Ayabaca and Sícchez districts to the east and the Montero district to the south .
