Jimmy Dixon (born October 10, 1981 in Bomi ) is a football player from Liberia . The central defender , who has played for the Liberian national team several times , has played in Sweden and Turkey in his career so far.
Career
Dixon grew up in Liberia and was involved in the civil war there, in which his brother was shot. The United Nations placed him in a school in neighboring Sierra Leone . In 1999 he took part in a youth tournament in Sweden, as a result of which he stayed in the country and joined the Gothenburg amateur club Floda BoIF .
Dixon's talent was recognized in a higher class. In 2002 he moved to BK Häcken in the second-class Superettan within Gothenburg . By the end of the year he scored two goals in 16 league games and missed the relegation place to Allsvenskan with the team around Johan Lind , Tobias Hysén and Peter Vougt in fourth place only because of the poorer goal difference against local rivals Västra Frölunda IF . In the same year he participated with the country selection at the African Cup of Nations 2002 in Mali . From the second division season in 2003 , he had established himself as a regular at his club. In 29 games he helped the team to reach the relegation place, there GIF Sundsvall proved to be too strong and prevailed after a 2-1 away win despite a 0-1 home defeat due to the away goals rule .
Under coach Jörgen Lennartsson Dixon won the second division championship in the 2004 season, when Gefle IF and Assyriska Föreningen were relegated to the places. In the first division promoted he was under the new coach Stefan Lundin at the side of Teddy Lučić , Stig Tøfting , David Marek and Patric Andersson still to the regular team and reached eighth place in the table at the end of the first division season in 2005 . In the following season he occupied the relegation place with the club and rose after two defeats against IF Brommapojkarna in the second division.
Dixon stayed in the Allsvenskan and joined the multiple national champions Malmö FF . Under coach Sören Åkeby and his successor Roland Nilsson he was one of the regulars of the club from Skåne , with whom he reached places in the middle of the table. After he had played eleven top division games for MFF in the 2009 season until the summer, he decided to leave the club.
Dixon moved to Turkey and joined Manisaspor in July 2009 . When he was promoted to the Süper Lig , where he received the shirt number "55", he immediately established himself in the regular formation. After a dismissal on the tenth match day on the occasion of a 1: 2 home defeat against Antalyaspor , he lost his regular place. After Manisaspor missed relegation at the end of the 2011/12 season, the expiring contract of Dixon was not extended, whereupon he left the club.
Shortly before the end of the summer transfer period , he returned to Sweden in the current season 2012 and hired at his former playing station BK Häcken, where he signed a contract that was valid until the end of the season. In the team of David Frölund , Oscar Lewicki and Mohammed Ali Khan in the championship race , however, he was only left with the role of supplementary player, coach Peter Gerhardsson only changed him in two games. At the end of the season he had to be content with the runner-up behind IF Elfsborg . After the end of the contract at the turn of the year, he left the club and moved to the Turkish TFF 1st Lig at Boluspor in early January 2013 .
