Jodok (Jodocus) Stülz (born February 23, 1799 in Bezau , † June 28, 1872 in Bad Gastein ) was a historian , clergyman and politician .

Live and act

After finishing school in Kempten , Innsbruck and Salzburg , Stülz entered the Augustinian Canons of St. Florian ( Upper Austria ) as a novice in 1820 . This was followed by the study of theology and history under his teacher and brother, the historian Franz Xaver Kurz. In 1824 Stülz was ordained a priest. After studying in Vienna (1829) and Munich (1833), Stülz published his first historical monograph in 1835 ( History of the Regulated Canon Monastery of St. Florian ). In 1840 the history of the Wilhering monastery appeared . In 1844 Stülz became a member of the Bavarian Academy , in 1846 he received the title of KK Reich historiographer and in 1847 became a member of the newly founded Imperial Academy of Sciences in Vienna.

In 1848 he took part in the pre-parliament in Frankfurt and became a member of the Fifties Committee . From October 2, 1848 to April 16, 1849, Stülz was the successor to Joseph Feßler's deputy for Bregenz in the Frankfurt National Assembly , where he belonged to the Paris Court .

From 1859 Stülz was the provost of the Canons of St. Florian . From 1861 to 1866 Stülz was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament , where he was involved in the publication of the document book (es) des Landes o. D. Enns participated. Stülz died at the age of 73 during a spa stay in Bad Gastein.
