Johann Christoph von Billerbeck

Hans Christoph von Billerbeck (born March 3, 1703 in Hohenwalde ; † July 20, 1777 in Golz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , knight of the order Pour le Mérite and heir to Hohenwalde, Golz and Janicker.

His family comes from Pomerania. His father was Kaspar von Billerbeck († 1709), Lord on Janikow (Janicker).

Life

He began his career in 1718 as a private corporal in the “Anhalt-Zerbst” infantry regiment . By 1735 Billerbeck rose to prime lieutenant . In the First Silesian War he acquired the order Pour le Mérite when he stormed Glogau and took part in the battles of Mollwitz and Chotusitz . Staff captain since August 1743 , he fought in the Second Silesian War in the Battle of Hohenfriedeberg . In September 1745 Billerbeck became captain and received a company .

In the Seven Years' War Billerbeck was established in September 1758 to lieutenant colonel and in December 1758 the Colonel promoted. Since June 1756 he commanded a grenadier battalion as major , which was composed of the grenadier companies of the infantry regiments "von Amstel" and "von Bülow" . In 1757 Billerbeck fought with his battalion in the battles of Reichenberg , Prague , Kolin and the battle of Leuthen . In the war year 1758, he was wounded during the siege of Olomouc in April and was taken prisoner in Austria, from which he was released through an exchange of prisoners . He then took part in the battle of Domstadtl in July, in August in the battles near Zorndorf and in October near Hochkirch . Wounded again near Kunersdorf in 1759 , he fought near Liegnitz in 1760, near Torgau in November 1760 and near Freiberg in October 1762 .

After the end of the war, Billerbeck took over command of the “von Queis” infantry regiment in August 1763. Frederick the Great appointed him on May 20, 1764 to major general and adopted him on May 24, mindful of its many awards and wounds with a pension of 1000 thalers. When Friedrich became aware of the poor condition of Billerbeck's goods on a trip through Pomerania in 1772, he supported him financially. Friedrich granted him a special honor in 1777 when he was promoted to lieutenant general.

Billerbeck was married to Maria Elisabeth von Novisadi, with whom he had several children, all sons were Prussian officers:
