Johann Friedrich von Normann

Johann Friedrich von Normann (born March 15, 1734 in Waldenitz near Bergen on Rügen , † February 25, 1798 in Krebsow ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

His parents were the Swedish captain a. D. and heir to Waldenitz Kasper Eggert von Normann (* 1713) and his wife Christiane Marie, née von Nimptsch (* 1729).

Military career

Normann came to Berlin on June 19, 1749 as a cadet . On October 9, 1751 he was employed as a corporal in the infantry regiment "von Loeben" of the Prussian army . On January 4, 1756 he became an ensign there . During the Seven Years' War Normann fought in the battles near Lobositz , Prague , Kolin , Leuthen and Hochkirch , where he was wounded in the latter battle. In the time he was on 2 January 1758 second lieutenant , and on July 23, 1760 First Lieutenant .

After the war he became a staff captain on May 18, 1768 and a captain and company commander on November 7, 1769 . On May 30, 1778 he was promoted to major and took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On January 17, 1779 he received the order Pour le Mérite and on August 1, 1779 he became commander of the grenadier regiment "Eberstein", which was composed of the regiments "von Thüna" and "von Woldeck". On May 20, 1787 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with a patent from June 1, 1787 and on July 3, 1789 he was then colonel . On December 16, 1790 Normann was appointed commander of the depot battalion in the "Crown Prince" infantry regiment . offset. But on December 23, 1790 he received his resignation as major general. He died on February 25, 1798 in Krebsow.

Normann was the heir to Wrangelsburg and Krebsow.

He married Dorothea Rosine Turk on January 25, 1791 in Zarnetow. The couple had several children including:

  • Karoline Wilhelmine Henriette (* October 20, 1786 - † February 9, 1787)
