Johann Gottfried Olearius (theologian, 1641)
Johann Gottfried Olearius (born May 6, 1641 in Halle (Saale) , † January 24, 1675 in Burg ) was a German educator and Protestant theologian.
Life
The son of Johannes Olearius (1611–1684) began studying philosophical sciences at the University of Jena in 1659 after taking lessons from private teachers . After earning his master's degree in 1661, he devoted himself to the study of theology. He also attended the lectures of Johannes Musäus (1613–1681), Christian Chemnitz (1615–1666), Johann Ernst Gerhard the Elder and Sebastian Niemann (1625–1684).
In 1662 he went on a scholarly trip with his brother Johannes Andreas Olearius . This led him to Heidelberg , Basel and Strasbourg . Over the Rhine they reached the Dutch universities in Utrecht , Leiden , Franeker and Groningen via Cologne . They returned to Halle via the universities of Altdorf , Leipzig and Wittenberg at the end of 1662, from where he was appointed grammar school professor for philosophy and theology at the newly established grammar school Augusteum in Weißenfels in 1664 .
At the Jena University of Applied Sciences he obtained his licentiate with the inaugural dissertation de Angelogia and obtained his doctorate in theology with his two brothers Johannes August and Johann Christian Olearius in Jena in 1674. In 1666 he went to Burg near Magdeburg as pastor of the Upper Church of Our Lady and Superintendent .

Three children are known from his marriage to Sophie Magarethe, the daughter of the Amtsrat in Zerbst Johann Sigismund Rephuhn (also partridge) on February 5, 1667. From the children we know:
