Johann Karl von Langen (born October 9, 1784 in Annaburg , † June 7, 1849 in Breslau ) was a Prussian major general and commandant of the Silberberg fortress .

Life

His parents were the Saxon major and director of the soldiers 'boys' educational institution in Annaburg Johann von Langen († March 19, 1792) and his wife Friederike Elisabeth, née von Grassen.

Military career

Langen first attended the Princely School of St. Afra in Meißen from July 5, 1796, and then from March 1, 1798 as a Saxon cadet, the Knight Academy in Dresden . He then joined the Saxon Army in 1800 and was promoted to portepee ensign in the von Thümmel infantry regiment until November 1802 . On May 30, 1806 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and took part in the Battle of Jena during the Fourth Coalition War. On 27 February 1809, he was first lieutenant put in Infantry Regiment "from Metzsch" and on April 4, 1811, the Infantry Regiment "rights". On January 23, 1812 he was appointed captain and adjutant on the general staff . During the Russian campaign in 1812 he fought with the Grande Army in the battles near Lubonell, Olczanta, Lesza, Bialla, Lapinice and Wolkowysk, where he earned the Military Order of St. Henry . On March 30, 1821, Langen was promoted to lieutenant colonel and in 1825 he was awarded the service cross . On May 6, 1826, he was appointed a member of the examination committee of one-year volunteers for the Wroclaw administrative region . On March 30, 1828, he was promoted to colonel and on March 30, 1832, Langen was appointed commander of the Silberberg fortress. To this end, on April 13, 1832, he received approval to continue wearing the uniform of the 10th Infantry Regiment. On March 30, 1836 he was given the character of major general. On August 31, 1837, he received an additional bonus of 500 thalers before he was put in disposition on October 4, 1838 with a pension of 1400 thalers . He died on June 7, 1849 in Breslau during a cholera epidemic , shortly after his wife.

Langen married Luise Armgard Karoline von Briesen on April 21, 1816 in Klitzschen (* January 25, 1796; † June 2, 1846). The couple had several children:
