Johann Mathias von Malschitzky

Johann Mathias von Malschitzky (* June 1737 in Garkewitz in the Lauenburg district ; † November 18, 1814 in Brieg ) was a Prussian major general and from 1799 chief of the infantry regiment "von Klinckowström" .

Life

origin

Johann Mathias came from the Malschitzky noble family in the Pomerania . His mother was born von Gotzkowsky.

Military career

Malschitzky had been a cadet in Berlin since July 23, 1750 and was then employed on July 26, 1756 as a private corporal in the "von Itzenplitz" infantry regiment of the Prussian army . During the Seven Years' War he attended the battles of Prague , Lobositz , Roßbach , Hochkirch , Kay and Maxen as well as the battle near Schmiedeberg. He was wounded in front of Hochkirch and again near Kay, and was taken prisoner during the attack on Maxen. Malschitzky became ensign in 1758 and second lieutenant in 1759 during the war .

He was promoted to prime lieutenant in 1765, then in 1773 as staff captain and finally in 1777 as captain and company commander . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession and took part in the battle near Weißkirch.

His promotion to major took place in 1786, at the same time he was commander of the grenadier battalion. In 1786 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel , in 1795 was promoted to colonel and in 1796 commander of the infantry regiment "von Arnim" . In 1799 King Friedrich Wilhelm III appointed him . head of the infantry regiment "von Klinckowström" and promoted him in May 1800 to major general.

Malschitzky then took part in the Fourth Coalition War in 1806 , but diminished in the following year due to health reasons and received only half his pension as a result of the peace of Tilsit . Another use in 1809 was negative.

family

Malschitzky married Henriette Charlotta Katharina Sontag (* 1756 in Spandau; † 9 February 1843 in Berlin) in Berlin on October 15, 1786. The following children were born from the marriage:
