John Mayhew (born March 27, 1947 in Ipswich , † March 26, 2009 in Glasgow ) was the third drummer of the British band Genesis .

Live and act

He replaced his predecessor John Silver in July 1969 and can be heard on the album Trespass . In August 1970 he was replaced by Phil Collins himself . Then he played in various other bands and finally went to Australia, where he worked as a carpenter in his learned profession. It was "lost" for a long time and was only tracked down by fans after 2000. Mayhew also received outstanding royalties of £ 78,000 from Genesis management for serving on Trespass . He spent the following years in Glasgow, where he worked as a carpenter for a furniture company. One day before his 62nd birthday, he died in 2009 in a Glasgow hospital of complications from heart disease.
