… Calling All Stations… ( English for “To all stations”) is the 15th and so far last studio album by the British rock band Genesis . After Phil Collins ' departure in 1996, Ray Wilson - former singer of the grunge band Stiltskin  - took over the role of singer and front man. Wilson's choice symbolizes the band's will to move away from the image of a pop band and a possible return to progressive rock. Nick D'Virgilio and Nir Zidkyahu were the drummers on the album. The only remaining founding members of the band - Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford  - wanted to develop into an album-oriented band again after Collins' departure and placed little emphasis on radio-grade hit singles in the production of the album. The music on the album is partly based on the progressive rock phase of Genesis in the 1970s .

The loss of the popular Phil Collins, the lack of hits and the cancellation of the planned US tour due to a lack of demand meant that the album became a commercial failure for the band. This setback presumably contributed to the fact that Genesis no longer produced another album.

In addition to the eleven songs on the album, eight other songs were recorded in the line-up, seven of which were used as the B-side on the three singles (there are two instrumental pieces among them), the eighth song entitled Nowhere Else to Turn is so far however not yet published.

Description of individual songs

Former Genesis singer Ray Wilson is still on the road with their songs after leaving Genesis (2006)

• Calling All Stations : The title song of the album, written in E minor, was already written for the album during the first writing session. It is about a person who is in a hopeless situation and the feelings and thoughts of this person are described in the title from their point of view. The rockiest piece on Calling All Stations consists of 88 beats per minute.
• Not About Us : Similar to the titles Congo , Shipwrecked and There Must Be Some Other Way , the song is about a battered love affair between a man and a woman that is now being questioned. The lyrics of this song mainly contain the loneliness of both parties in their situation. The piece has 79 beats per minute.
• The Dividing Line : The track with 119 beats per minute is the only one on the album that is not ended by a fade-out. The song was originally intended to be the final track for the album. The socially critical text of the song deals with uneven relationships in society and in this context is an appeal against the indifference of humanity.
