The Way We Walk (English for. " Just as we run ") is a live album by British rock band Genesis . The album contains recordings from the We Can't Dance tour in 1992 . It consists of two independently released CDs. In December 1992, the first part was published under the title The Way We Walk, Vol. 1 (The Shorts) and contained the shorter hit singles from the repertoire of the three albums Genesis , Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance . A month later, the second part was released as The Way We Walk, Vol. 2 (The Longs) and contained longer pieces from the band's last studio albums, a drum solo by Phil Collins and Chester Thompson ( Drum Duet ), and a 20-minute medley ( The Old Medley ) from older pieces from the band's progressive era in the 1970s.

background

The publication has been criticized by fans in two parts, as long and shorter pieces were always combined at Genesis concerts. On the two partial albums, the separation according to the length of the songs seems artificial and doesn't really reflect the atmosphere of the concerts.

The title of the album, The Way We Walk , is a quote from two Genesis songs: Similar formulations appear in both I Can't Dance from the album We Can't Dance (" Only thing about me is the way I walk ") , as well as in the first commercially successful Genesis single I Know What I Like from the album Selling England By The Pound (" You can tell me by the way I walk ").

In 2001 the video recordings of the London concert of the 1992 tour were released in a 2- DVD set. The DVD is also entitled The Way We Walk .
