Johnnie Bamont

Johnnie Lee Bamont (* 1951 in San Francisco ) is an American musician and has been part of the brass section of the band Huey Lewis & The News since 1998 . His main instrument is the saxophone , but he also plays the flute .

biography

Bamont received his degree (Bachelor of Music) at the San Francisco State University . He has played on tours and concerts by Boz Scaggs , The Temptations , Frankie Valli , Larry Carlton , Donna Summer , The Four Tops and Sly & the Family Stone , among others . His work as a session musician includes recordings with Taylor Hicks , Diane Schuur , Elvin Bishop and Tony! Toni! Toné! . With Tony! Toni! Toné! In 1996 he recorded the album House of Music , which also included Marvin McFadden , who was already a member of Huey Lewis & the News. Bamont's first recording with the band was the 2010 album Soulsville .

According to Al Schmitt, an American sound engineer who won a Grammy 21 times between 1962 and 2013 , Johnnie Bamont has "the best baritone saxophone tone I have ever recorded."
