Jonas Baeck

Jonas Baeck (born December 29, 1981 in Cologne ) is a German actor , author and speaker.

Life

Baeck gained his first acting experience at the age of 18. Shortly before graduating from high school, he joined a free theater group, where he a. a. appeared in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Hamlet . Later he was occasionally active as a street musician . From 2003 to 2006 he completed an acting training at the drama school Bochum of the Folkwang University of the Arts .

He had his first theater engagements at the Stadttheater Bielefeld (season 2005/06), at the Schauspielhaus Bochum (2006) and at the Theater im Bauturm in Cologne (season 2007/08). At the Theater im Bauturm he played in The Kick by Andres Veiel and Gesine Schmidt; he also appeared there as Lucky in Waiting for Godot . In 2007 he received the Cologne Theater Prize for his role in Der Kick am Theater im Bauturm Cologne. In the 2007/08 season he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schnawwl Children's and Youth Theater in Mannheim .

In 2009 Jonas Baeck played the title role in Shakespeare's Hamlet at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival . From 2010 to 2013 he appeared at the Prinzregenttheater in Bochum in the title role of Kleist's Prince Friedrich von Homburg .

Baeck has been a member of the Cologne theater company "Acting Accomplices" since 2011, of which he is one of the founders. In 2011 he starred in a production of "Acting Accomplices" at the theater in Bauturm in the piece Empty City of Dejan Dukovski , for which he received the Heidelberg Theater Prize, 2013. In the 2011/12 season he appeared at the Freie Werkstatt Theater in Cologne as Wilhelm Meister in a stage version of Goethe's Wilhelm Meister's apprenticeship years . In 2012, engagements at the Artheater Cologne and the Sophiensaele in Berlin followed . In 2013 he took on the role of bon vivant Jack Worthing in the comedy Bunbury at the Theater im Bauturm in Cologne .

In October / November 2014 he played a leading role in Nis-Momme Stockmann's play The Friend Sick in the Orangery Theater in the Volksgarten in Cologne . In 2014 he and his brother Jean Paul received the Cologne Acting Award , especially for their roles in The Friend Sick .

Baeck also worked in several cinema and television productions. In Benny and Rob (2006), the diploma film by director Zrinka Budimlija at the Art Academy for Media Cologne , he played the role of the 15-year-old mentally handicapped Benny. In 2006 he received the award for “Best Young Actor” at the Lüchow Open Shorts for his performance. He made his television debut, also directed by Zrinka Budimlija, in the episode film Code 21 , shown in the WDR series “Kinozeit: Debütfilm” , in the Super Skyline segment , with Oliver Moser , Felix Bold , Johannes Hauer and Maike Jüttendonk as partners .

Baeck had his first leading role in the cinema in the tragic comedy Kleinstatthelden (2010) by Marc Schaumburg . He embodied Janosch, an unsuccessful musician in his early 20s who returns to his hometown and is caught up there by his past. In the movie comedy The Blender (2012) he had a supporting role; he was the bank clerk Dennis. In Lars von Trier's film drama Nymphomaniac (2013) he was seen in a short sex scene with Stacy Martin .

In the television series Club of the Red Ribbons (2015) he had a continuous supporting role in a series; he played Dr. Hein, a doctor in oncology . Baeck also had episode roles in the television series Danni Lowinski (2012; as educator Manuel Berger accused of sexual abuse ), SOKO Cologne (2014; as cook and witness Ralf Jenke) and Heiter bis fatally: Morden im Norden (2014; as suspect Kai Ellerbeck) . In the 4th film in the TV crime series Die Füchsin (2019), Baeck played the factory worker and informant Niko.

Baeck was also a voice actor and radio play speaker , u. a. Active in radio features and radio plays for WDR (including as journeyman Michal in Krabat ), Deutschlandfunk and Deutsche Welle . In 2010 he received for his performance in the leading role in the radio play Do you know Ken? by Simon Kamphans / Matthias Lang the ARD radio play award .

In 2019, Baeck published a book at Kiepenheuer & Witsch about a trip to Dublin he took in 2005 : When the sun comes out, I drive without money: With the scooter to Dublin .

Baeck lives in Cologne.
