José Crispiano Clavijo Méndez (born June 13, 1951 in Tocancipá ) is a Colombian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sincelejo .

Life

José Crispiano Clavijo Méndez studied philosophy at the University of San Buonaventura in Bogotá and then Catholic theology at the Pontifical University Javeriana in Bogotá and at the Johannes XXIII regional seminary. in the Archdiocese of Barranquilla . He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Valledupar on November 20, 1988 . After further studies, he obtained a degree in catechetics and youth pastoral care at the Pontifical University of the Salesians in Rome.

In the diocese of Valledupar he was pastor of several parishes in Chimichagua and Valledupar and rector of the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Rosario . At times he was chancellor of the diocesan curia and vicar general . He headed the diocesan evangelization center and was episcopal vicar for the clergy and catechesis. From 2012 he was the rain of the Diocesan Seminary John Paul II in Valledupar.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sincelejo on February 19, 2015 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia, Archbishop Ettore Balestrero , donated him episcopal ordination on March 14 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Cartagena , Jorge Enrique Jiménez Carvajal CIM , and the Bishop of Valldupar, Oscar José Vélez Isaza CMF . The inauguration in the diocese of Sincelejo took place two weeks later.
