The Josbach is a 10.6 km long left eastern tributary of the Wohra in the Hessian districts of Schwalm-Eder and Marburg-Biedenkopf .

geography

course

The Josbach rises at a height of 380 m in the meadows on the western slope of the Lohberg (428 m) near the Rhine-Weser watershed in the community of Gilserberg about 1 km north of the Winterscheid district . The B 3 runs about 200 m northwest of the source .

The stream initially turns south, flows through Winterscheid and circles the town of Lischeid in the east and south, with its course changing towards the west. Then it reaches the district of Marburg-Biedenkopf, where it flows through the Rauschenberg district of Josbach and flows into the Wohra in the municipality of Wohratal south of the district of Halsdorf . On this section the federal highway 3 runs along the Josbach .

Its 10.6 km long run ends about 164 meters below its source, so it has an average bottom gradient of 15 ‰.

Catchment area

Its 21.77 km² catchment area is located in the Gilserberger Heights and in the Wohratal natural area . It is drained via the Wohra, the Ohm , the Lahn and the Rhine to the North Sea.

It borders

  • in the northeast to that of the Gilsa , which drains over the Schwalm and the Eder into the Fulda
  • on the east of the hard water , which in the Schwalm-inflow Wiera opens
  • and in the south to that of the Hatzbach , which flows into the Wohra.
