Josef "Sepp" Lehner (born February 15, 1972 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a former German ice hockey player who last played in the ice hockey league for SC Riessersee .
Career
In his years at SC Riessersee in the 2nd Bundesliga , the young defender was able to attract attention in the early 1990s and finally moved to the top division of BSC Preussen , the later Berlin Capitals, for the 1992/93 season . The right-handed shooter played successfully for five years in Berlin and finally returned in 1997 to his homeland in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for SC Riessersee. After the license withdrawal for SC Riessersee in the 2003/04 season , the defender moved to the Straubing Tigers shortly after Christmas . There Lehner quickly developed into one of the leading players in the team and led the Tigers in 2006 as captain to the second division championship and promotion to the DEL. Lehner took over the position at the beginning of the season from Andreas Lupzig , who had to end his career due to another knee injury. After another two years as captain in the German ice hockey league , the defender gave up the post to Eric Meloche at his own request .
As of the 2009/10 season, he wore the jersey of his home club SC Riessersee again as captain . After winning the Oberliga championship in the 2010/11 season, Lehner ended his career.
