Joseph Aloys Kilian

Joseph Aloys (Alois) Kilian (born August 8, 1790 in Mainz , † June 10, 1851 in Darmstadt ) was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse and Minister of State of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Life

Joseph Aloys Kilian studied law and in 1824 became a supplementary judge at the Mainz Higher Court, where he later became a full member and councilor. In 1830 he became general advocate at the Mainz Higher Court and in 1831 President of the Mainz District Court . In 1838 he became a member and councilor in the Higher Appeal and Cassation Court in Darmstadt and in 1839 was appointed General Procuratorate, i.e. the highest public prosecutor in the Grand Duchy of Hesse.

As a result of the March Revolution in the government of the Grand Duchy of Hesse, the Ministry of Justice was separated from the Ministry of the Interior and in March 1848 Joseph Aloys became the first Minister of Justice of the Grand Duchy who was not also Minister of the Interior. June 1849 he moved back to the office of General State Procurator.

In the 9th and 11th electoral terms (1841-1848) he was a member of the second chamber of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse. In the estates he represented the constituency Rheinhessen 5 / Nieder-Olm - Bretzenheim . From 1847 to 1848 he was Vice President of the Chamber. He represented liberal positions in the estates.

Joseph Aloys Kilian was the son of the chancellor Gerion Kilian and his wife Maria Anna nee Göpfert. Joseph Aloys Kilian, who was of a Catholic denomination, married Anna Maria nee von Hauser zu Wildsdorf and her second marriage Julie Marie nee von der Marck.
