Joseph Mawle

Joseph Mawle (born March 21, 1974 in Oxford , England ) is a British actor .

Life

Mawle was born in Oxford and grew up in a Victorian house in the Warwickshire countryside . He attended school in Stratford-upon-Avon . At first he worked as a fitness trainer and dishwasher before he received a scholarship at the "Bristol Old Vic's Theater School", where he was able to complete an acting course.

After graduating in 2002, he made his first appearances in commercials for the Irish beer Guinness . In 2003 he was hired by theaters in Southampton and Manchester and played roles in plays such as Troilus and Cressida , Hamlet and Antonius and Cleopatra .

In 2006 he played one of the leading roles in the TV series Soundproof , which earned him a BAFTA nomination in 2007 . In the following years Mawle worked as a television actor and starred in series on Channel 4 , BBC and HBO . In 2014 he took on the lead role in The Hallow alongside Bojana Novaković , Michael McElhatton and Michael Smiley .
