Juan Gómez (Bishop)

Juan Gómez (born June 24, 1962 in Comarapa , Santa Cruz Department , Bolivia ) is a Bolivian clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in Cochabamba .

Life

Juan Gómez attended the Espíritu Santo Small Seminary in Espada from 1988 to 1992 . 1993 Gómez entered the seminary San Jose in Cochabamba and began the study of philosophy and Catholic theology at the Institute for Theological Studies in Cochabamba, where he was a 2003 graduate in the subject Missiology acquired. In addition, Juan Gómez obtained a degree in pastoral theology from the San Pablo Theological Faculty in Cochabamba . He was ordained a deacon on May 9, 1998 and received the sacrament of priestly ordination on August 27, 1999 in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Lawrence by the Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra , Julio Terrazas Sandoval CSsR .

Juan Gómez then worked as parish vicar in the parish of Cristo Misionero in Santa Cruz de la Sierra before becoming a teacher at the San José seminary in Cochabamba in 2000 . Gómez was the rain of the propaedeutic seminary in Santa Cruz de la Sierra from 2003 to 2007 and of the San Lorenzo seminary from 2007 to 2010 . He then returned to teaching at the San José Seminary in Cochabamba and was a member of the College of Consultors . From 2014 to 2015 Juan Gómez was pastor of the parish Señor de los Milagros in Santa Cruz de la Sierra and episcopal vicar for the Vicariate of San Pablo . In 2016 he was again the rain of the San Lorenzo Seminary .

On 27 December 2018 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Semta and Auxiliary of Cochabamba. The Archbishop of Cochabamba, Oscar Omar Aparicio Céspedes , donated him and Carlos Enrique Curiel Herrera, who was appointed with him, episcopal ordination on March 19 of the following year . Co- consecrators were the former Archbishop of La Paz , Luis Sáinz Hinojosa OFM , and the Archbishop of Santa Cruz de la Sierra , Sergio Alfredo Gualberti .
