Kōhei Mitamura ( Japanese 三 田村 康 平 , Mitamura Kōhei ; born February 19, 1992 in Obihiro , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ōji Eagles in the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2010 .

Career

Kohei Mitamura began his career as an ice hockey player at the Shirakaba Gakuen High School in Memuro . At the age of 18 he moved to the Ōji Eagles , with whom he has been under contract ever since. With the team from Tomakomai he won the Asia League Ice Hockey in 2012 .

International

For Japan, Kōhei Mitamura took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2009 and 2010 and the U20 World Junior Championships in Division I in 2011 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2012 , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 and 2016 . He also took part in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in February 2013 , but retired with the Japanese team despite having a home advantage at the first round tournament in Nikko with a 2-1 defeat in the decisive game against Great Britain . He also represented his colors in qualifying for the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang and this time reached the decisive second qualifying round with a 2-1 win over Ukraine at the home tournament in Sapporo , in which the Japanese were eliminated without Mitamura. At the Winter Asian Games 2017 he finished third with the Japanese behind Kazakhstan and South Korea .
