Kader Kesek (born April 19, 1968 in Königstein im Taunus ) is a German-Turkish musician , songwriter , lyricist , director and music producer . He is the father of a daughter and lives in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

The son of a Turkish immigrant family who has been at home in Germany since 1966 , grew up in a musical family. Particularly influenced by his mother, Kesek found music at an early age and sang in the elementary school choir and - as a Muslim - also in the Catholic and Protestant church choir . At the age of 13 he formed his first punk band , but also experimented with rap . Kesek later gave up studying marine biology and has since devoted himself only to music.

Kader Kesek is known as a “cultural nomad” who always moves back and forth between different cultural models of life and musical styles, supported by a high degree of intercultural competence . The artist acts as a transmitter who, figuratively, creates new cultures and sounds with his crossover sound. “The migrants , the travelers, are the ones who create new cultures . I see myself as part of this movement, as a link between the different cultural worlds. And only in connection with the other are new identities created. I see myself as an ambassador and my music and art are a means to an end, to overcome boundaries. ”(Kader Kesek)

Career

In 1981 Kader Kesek founded the punk rock group Tocka 4 with others. He was a drummer and wrote his first German lyrics. He soon switched to guitar and played in the thrash metal band Strucked Noise. At the same time, Kesek repeatedly experimented with rap and musicians from different styles and met u. a. also for joint sessions with jazz musicians . That time marks the beginning of his crossover sound .

The Megavier project came into being in 1993 after the German rappers Die Fantastischen 4 and the Frankfurt metal band Megalomaniax performed together . The metal hip-hop project was ended again at the end of 1994, but Megalomaniax got a taste for this crossover sound . Kader Kesek's Turkish and German-English rap skills were noticed and the band redefined in 1995 with Kesek as the frontman . 1996 Megalomaniax brought the experimental, German-Turkish album "hardcoriental" out where Kesek with Thomas D . raps the Megavier song " Frohes Fest ". The band toured Germany , Austria and Switzerland . In 1997 the RockHard encyclopedia listed Megalomaniax among the 100 most interesting European bands.

In 1999 Megalomaniax played as the opening act for Metallica in the Istanbul stadium in front of 60,000 spectators and, on the subsequent tour, filled the Turkish concert halls as the main band with Massive Attack .

With the cover version "Hepsi senin mi" by the Turkish singer Tarkan , the band brought together different music genres, which was new in the Turkish music scene. Megalomaniax continued to play in front of large audiences in Turkey, and even today the crossover sound and Megalomaniax are synonymous . The band broke up in 2001.

Kesek is still active as a music producer today . His idea of cross-border cultural creation and the merging of different musical styles are the core of his work; so also in 2004/2005, where Kesek worked as a musical head in collaboration with Marcel Avram as a music producer, songwriter and author for the Turkish-oriental dance show "Night of the Sultans".

Kader Kesek and Peter Maffay

Kader Kesek began working with Peter Maffay in 1999 and was the first "musical rapper" ever to appear on stage in Peter Maffay's " Tabaluga & Lilli " in Oberhausen. The "Kratermann" song he wrote was the only track on the musical CD that was released as a single.

In 2003/2004 Kesek was hired again as a lyricist and producer for “Tabaluga and the gift of happiness” and sang the only single with the “Beauty Song” as “Dreckschwein”, which was released as “Pig Ragga” .

In 2006/2007 Kesek worked for Maffay's stage show "Encounters" as a producer and wrote the text for the single " Children of the World ". As a director he later united 14 countries represented by their superstars on one stage in the show “Encounters”.
