Kai Freddie Selvon (born April 13, 1992 in Arima ) is a sprinter from Trinidad and Tobago .

Career

Kai Selvon gained his first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2007 in Providenciales , where she finished seventh in the 200-meter run in 24.79 s. In that year she won the silver medal in 24.14 s at the Games in Basseterre . In the 100-meter run she qualified for the Junior World Championships in Bydgoszcz , where she was eliminated with 12.56 s in the preliminary run. In 2009 she was eliminated from the preliminary round at the CARIFTA Games in Vieux-Fort and then reached the quarter-finals at the World Youth Championships in Brixen , where she was eliminated with 12.09 seconds over 100 meters. Then she retired from the Pan American Junior Championships in Port of Spain in 24.78 s in the first round. In 2010 she won the silver medal over 200 meters at the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships (CAC) in Santo Domingo in 23.42 seconds and with the Trinidadian-Tobagian 4 x 400 meter relay. In addition, she won the bronze medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 45.55 s. Then she was at the Junior World Championships in Moncton in 23.58 s fourth. In 2011 she won the silver medal at the Pan American Championships in Miramar in 22.97 s and also qualified for the World Championships in Daegu , South Korea , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 23.11 s and her place with the 4 x 100 meters Relay was canceled due to a doping offense by teammate Semoy Hackett . In 2012 she made it to the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in London over 200 meters , in which she was eliminated with 23.04 s. In 2015, she finished fifth in the World Relays in 42.88 s. Two years later, she finished fourth in the IAAF World Relays 2017 with the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 32.63 min and was disqualified in the 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run. In 2018, she again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , where she was eliminated in the semi-finals over 200 meters in 23.42 s and finished fifth in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 43.50 s.

In 2011, 2012 and 2013 Selvon was Trinidadian-Tobacco champion in the 200-meter run and in 2011 also over 100 meters.
