Kaido Külaots (born February 28, 1976 in Pärnu ) is an Estonian chess player .
successes
He was able to win the Estonian individual championship nine times : 1999, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2014 and 2020 in Tallinn , 2001 in Pühajärve , 2008 in Rakvere and 2010 in Tartu . In 2004 and 2007 in Tallinn he finished second. He was Estonian rapid chess champion in 2001, in 2002 he was second. He won the lightning championship in Estonia in 2000 and 2005. At the 20th Open in Cappelle-la-Grande in 2004, he finished second behind Yevgeny Najer . In July 2008 he won the Heart of Finland tournament in Jyväskylä . In 2019 he won the Aeroflot Open in Moscow .
For Estonia he took part in seven chess Olympiads between 1998 and 2010 , at the Olympics in 2006 , 2008 and 2010 on board one, with a total of 42 points from 71 games (+24 = 36 −11) and between 2003 and 2007 in three European team championships on the top board.
In Estonia he used to play for the Chess Club Uus-Pärnu , with which he was, for example, Estonian team champion in 2000. He currently plays for K. Külaotsa MK . He also plays club chess in Finland (formerly for Jyväs-Shakki Jyväskylä , with whom he won the Finnish team championship in 2004/05, later for the SalSK from Salo ), Sweden (formerly for Södra / SASS , then for Lunds ASK , the 2010 Swedish team champion / 11 and 2018/19 ), France (for Gif sur Yvette-CC2-Echecs and L'Echiquier Deauvillais ), Greece, Denmark (for the Aalborg Skakforening , then for the Skanderborg Skakklub ), Hungary (for the Budapesti Egyetemi Atlétikai Club ) , Iceland (for Fjölnir Reykjavík ) and Norway (for Vålerenga Sjakklubb ). In Germany, he played in the 1995/96 season with SV Tübingen in the 1st Bundesliga , and later for VfL Blau-Weiß Neukloster in the 2nd Bundesliga North . He has been playing in Augsburg since the 2016/17 season, first for SK 1908 Göggingen and after the club was renamed for BCA Augsburg . In 2014 he played for ŠK Margiris Kaunas in Lithuania .
